Worse BINGO Week Ever! May 3, 2008

Okay, so this last Thursday and Friday I went to play BINGO as usual and it was very aggravating. I just had to pour my frustrations out in my blog just to get them off of my chest. I normally go to just have fun, but this week’s games just left me high and dry. And, this is not a whine fest about “Oh, poor me, I did not win…” Like I said, I go for fun and not necessarily to win…winning is just a bonus. I actually enjoy just playing.

However, Thursday night at the West Covina Elks Lodge was torturous! I was on in every game! And, to top it off, I was not feeling well and then the sellers were not coming to our side of the hall and we were missing a lot of the games because they play favorites. I was so upset. Everytime I would say or think “I’m on!”, someone would shout “BINGO!” It felt like a curse because I was not even given that opportunity of when you are on and you are waiting for your number to come up and you get that antsy adrenaline feeling where you think you might win. No, not even that. It was “I’m on!”…a second later…someone shouting “BINGO!” No chance to even enjoy the fact that I got “on”. Ugh. I hate that. If I am not going to win, at least let me enjoy it, please. LOL!

Friday night at St. Louise, in San Dimas, was no better. There was a different BINGO caller and he was going so fast that most of us could not keep up. Lucky for me, I was only playing two cards. I felt sorry for people who were playing three or more cards because he was acting like he was at an auction! Also, I was sick to my stomach because of some Mexican food I had eaten earlier. (Note to self: no more Mexican food before BINGO!) It was just not a good night. I was happy to leave and come home.

I did not win either night. But that is not the big deal. The big deal is that I did not get to enjoy it and I felt cheated because of it. Even when I do not win (which is a lot of times), at least I leave the place having had fun and enjoying my experience. But I did not even have that.

Bummer.

Well, there’s always next week…

Red Bubble Tip #1: Adding a Portfolio Banner to Your Red Bubble Profile Page May 3, 2008

I just posted a tutorial for Red Bubble members about how to add a nifty little portfolio banner to your Red Bubble profile page. On its promo page, Red Bubble has an HTML version that you use to post on your blog or website (such as the one in my blog’s sidebar). However, they have not supplied the code to be able to use it on Red Bubble itself. For those who may not be aware, Red Bubble uses a different coding language other than HTML (some say it is “web text” format, but I have my doubts). Anyhow, I have come to the rescue and posted (in my RB Journal) a step-by-step tutorial on how to use this tool on RB itself (and even how to use it as a hyperlink!). ALL Red Bubble users should check it out on RB asap by clicking here.

Cheers!

Four New Creations Uploaded to the BCD RB Gallery! April 30, 2008

I just finished uploading some new designs to the BCD Red Bubble Art (Prints) Gallery and T-Shirt Gallery. They took me awhile to perfect, but the end results where great! Both are social commentaries, but they are entirely different types of editorials.

The first, BINGO Heart, is a digital illustration based on an altered art piece I created and then photographed. After the photograph was uploaded into my Photoshop CS3, I digitally illustrated it using many layers to end at the final result:

(It is offered as both art design and t-shirt design.)

I ♥ BINGO! (I go every Thursday and Friday night) and I wanted to share that love. I will have to get one of these shirts to wear to the BINGO hall! I am working on more future BINGO designs for all you BINGO lovers out there! So, stay tuned!

The second design, Have You Seen the New Five Dollar Bill?, came about after an aggravating day ending with being suckered at the pump! Here in California, gas prices have sky-rocketed to almost $4.00 per gallon. Thus, was born:

(It is also offered as both art (print) and t-shirt design.)

I first wanted George Dub-ya to be able to see this design as a social commentary on just how ridiculous this economy is getting! However, I scratched that idea after realizing that the pres. might think this a good idea and implement it! Ugh.

Well, there is definitely more to come! I am always working-working-working, busy-busy-busy on new ideas and concepts. So, be sure to hit me up here or at Red Bubble and let me know what y’all think!

Much love!

BCD Art (Prints) Gallery “Snap Shot” Updated April 28, 2008

I finished updating the Art (Prints) gallery “snap shot” this morning and it is fully working and operational. The links are all working too! I was having a slight problem with them and the WordPress theme, but I smoothed out all the wrinkles! Let me know what you think!

So far, the only “snap shot” that is live is the one dedicated to my Red Bubble art (prints) storefront. As I add more work to RB, I will be also updating the blog’s “snap shot” as well. Also, I am in the process of creating one for my Red Bubble T-Shirt line (it should go live in a few days). I am also working on updating and finalizing my Etsy, CafePress, and Zazzle storefronts. As soon as they are all prettied up, I will make a “snap shot” for them here as well and update my links. I just do not want to present them yet because I had to pause working on them for awhile and they are in disarray. I just cannot wait until all my shops are updated and ready! This blog is going to be a perfect hub for it all! Yay!

Cheers!

Writers’ Market Group’s Blogazine Issue No.5 is now up and it features some great journal entries, poetry, stories, updates, and information selected from all over Red Bubble. If you have not yet had a chance to check it out, you should take a gander because there is something there for everyone!

Also, be sure to check out the Stories section, as I was given the awesome privilege to choose some of the featured stories for this issue! I read through a lot of great stories, but in the end, three really stood out both on technique and substance. The three stories I chose came from some really talented Red Bubble writers: Jane A. Paris, Natella2020, and DKerr.

Congratulations to all those whose pieces were selected!! If you are not yet a member of Red Bubble’s Writer’s Market Group, you should definitely check out the group and sign up!

Cheers!

Faerie Dust and The Lovers added to Red Bubble Gallery! April 24, 2008

I wrote the flash fiction/poetry (I cannot decide which it is) piece, The Lovers, for my Red Bubble writing gallery and then created the below illustration, Faerie Dust, to accompany it. I hope you enjoy it!

Faerie Dust

The Lovers

By Brian Jaime

…and the lovers swooned as though time had stopped. Even the dusty butterflies and swaying tree had felt the need to pause and reflect on the power of love’s spell. For but a whisper of a moment, the stars and the moon seemed as one tangoing across the night sky, which itself was marrying dusk to night. For a few short seconds, the lovers gazed into each other’s eyes, without noticing the extreme stillness around them, and they fell deep into love – each of them knowing that they could never breathe a single breathe again without the other. Then, with a flick and a swish, time was broken and the lovers glanced up at the evening sky wrapped in a gossamer blanket of bliss. And, even though this all took but mere seconds, the faerie knew that a few short seconds was all that was needed…

EP’s Artist Spotlight - 21 Questions with Philip Rogan April 24, 2008

Last week, I announced that I would be interviewing artists for Emotive Photography’s Artist Spotlight. I just wanted to give everyone the heads-up that the first interview has been uploaded to the forums. I am now on the lookout for victim…er…artist number two! I will be going through the EP group to select the next interviewee to spotlight. Until then, here is an “excerpt” from the current interview with artist/photographer/filmmaker, Philip Rogan. (Click the link that follows the excerpt to read the entire interview.) If you have not had a chance to read the entire interview, you should have a look because there is a lot of great information there!

{Excerpt…}

For this first spotlight, I chose a wonderfully talented artist, Philip Rogan , who is based in Spain and whose portfolio is one emotive trove of visual eye candy! If you have not had a chance to check it out, you really should. He captures piratically everything in the emotional gamut, from anger to love, with a keen eye for composition and storytelling.

I was delighted to be able to pick his brain about everything from Ireland to filmmaking, and his wonderful piece “Young Actor”. He has also presented some wonderful tips to artists about the business of photography and on how to capture emotions on film. And, if that were not enough, he was also able to tackle the dreaded twenty-first question with an answer that is poised and, well…emotive!
